The bankers sit sixth on five points from three matches, having won only once in the last two legs
KCB youngsters Terry Tata and Fridah Boke emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Setter, respectively in last month’s Kipchumba Karori Eldoret International Volleyball Tournament held in Eldoret, leading the Bankers to the title.
With that performance, head coach Japheth Munala is confident a mix of the new blood and the experienced players will propel the side back to the top before the Kenya Volleyball league enters the playoffs.
“We are looking to claw our way back to the top before heading for the club championships,” Munala told Mozzart Sport.
“We have not had the best of starts but it still is early days and we have what it takes to get back to the top. It will, however, be no walk in the park.”
The Bankers sit sixth on five points from three matches, having won only once in the last two legs. Albeit being on unfamiliar territory, Munala is not panicking.
Munala has made crucial additions for the 2024/25 season signing three from Kesogon and two from Kwanthanze, the two schools that have churned out top talents in the recent past.
“The new players have settled in well and we are working on team cohesion ahead of this weekend’s action. Some of the players have already gotten our system of play and we are bringing the rest on board gradually.
The third leg matches will be a test of where the team is while giving us a chance to identify problem areas,” the tactician continued.
This weekend, the holders take on Prisons Nairobi on Saturday, before taking on Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on Sunday.
